I am getting married to an American. Can I get some English documents translated into Japanese so I can submitte them to the city office?

OIHF does not provide translation services.

I am constantly fighting with my Japanese husband.
I am wondering if I should get a divorce.What should I do? Please give me some advice.

What do you want the most? Do you want a divorce? 
Please make sure you know what you want first so we can help you to go through the process.

I am currently in a divorce courtcase with my Japanese wife. I received a letter from the court, but I cannot go because I have work on the trial. Can you notify the court on my behalf that I cannot go due to work?

We cannot. You must contact the court by yourself.

I had a traffic accident with a Japanese car. Can you apologize to them with me?

We cannot do that. OIHF does not provide assistance for personal problems.

Is there a lawyer at OIHF? Can I get a consultation with them immediately?

OIHF does not have an exclusive laywer. Nor can we arrange a counsltation immediately.

Who can use this service?

This service is intended for foreigners living or planning to live in the prefecture regardless of their status of residence. In addition, Japanese people who mediate foreign consultation are also available.

What kind of content can I consult?

We always accept consultations on problems and worries in daily life. You can also receive advice from a professional perspective such as law (legal consultation is based on prior general consultation)

I need a consultation service. What should I do?

Can you respond by phone or face-to-face?

Yes, of course.

I am engaged in work related to living consultation for foreigners and need an interpreter. Can you help?

We do not accept the request of interpretation only. Please tell the counselor to contact us.

Medical Interpretation Support

Do I have to register if I complete the seminar?

Registration is optional.

I need a medical interpreter dispatched as soon as possible. Will you accept the application?

We do not accept requests with "emergency" and "serious".

Foreigners Support at the Time of Disaster

If I register as a "Foreign Supporter in the time of disaster", will I need to go outside Okinawa for support during a large-scale disaster?

No

When a large-scale disaster occurs, I am overwhelmed with myself and my family, and I don't think we can immediately respond to a request for cooperation as a "foreign supporter in the time of disaster".

Disaster relief does not always end in a short time.First, ensure the safety of yourself and your family. Then cooperate with us if possible. The specific flow from the disaster to the request for support will be explained in the seminar.

I'm not confident in any language, but can I apply?

Yes.

Japanese Class

Will participating in face-to-face classes help me prepare for the EJU or qualification exam for Japan?

OIHF's Japanese language class is a free class for learning the Japanese language necessary for daily life and work. This class is not intended for studying abroad in Japan or preparing for qualification exams.

Are face-to-face classes divided by JLPT level?

Face-to-face classes are not divided by JLPT level. It is divided into two classes: zero beginner level and other classes.

What is the level of face-to-face classes?

In face-to-face classes, instead of a teacher teaching all at once, the students learn the necessary Japanese on their own, ask questions to the teacher or supporter about what they don't understand, and teach each other. Learners have different levels and needs.

Will face-to-face classes be taught in Japanese?

Teachers and supporters will use Japanese.
  • The number of registered supporters is more than ten, and the number of participants varies depending on the day. Supporters, both those with Japanese language teacher qualifications and those without, utilize their various work histories and experiences at life stages to support learners.

Who are the students in face-to-face classes?

Learners of various nationalities are enrolled in face-to-face classes. The proportion of working adults is high, and the number of students is small.

We do not accept the request in principle.

I am considering taking a Japanese class. Can I observe the class?

Please apply online and come to the class.
